DARRELL WELTIN

Darrell Weltin, native of Ubly, Michigan, has been performing on accordion and piano since the age of 15 and has been playing ever since.  His profession is a butcher at his company “Weltin Meat Packing, Inc.” and when not processing meat, you can find him playing concertina, accordion, and piano.   Not only a musician, Darrell is a bandleader, and has recorded several albums with the Style Stix, Michigan Connection, Mark Janson’s New Brass Express and the New Brass Express.  He owns his own record label, “Weltin Records.” He had a four piece group that opened up for Moe Bandy, and while with the Laurie Middlebrook band, he opened for John Michael Montgomery, Neil McCoy, Ronnie Milsap, Pam Tillis and Cheley Wright.  While Darrell enjoys country music, his true love is polka music.  Currently, he owns and operates his own recording studio and is the bandleader of the New Brass Express and performs throughout the United States.  Matt and Darrell have been “brothers of the note” for over 30 years and shared the stage many time, most notably with the Style Stix and as a fill-in with New Brass Express.
